The UK’s Film and TV Charity (FTVC) is reviewing how its Mentally Healthy Productions programme will operate, following the departure of leads Anna Mishcon and Andy Glynne.
Mishcon and Glynne have been with the charity for four and five years respectively, co-leading on its mental health and well-being strategies.
A FTVC spokesperson confirmed the pair’s departures following the launch of the charity’s principles for mentally healthy productions earlier this year.
The principles are the basis for Mentally Healthy Productions’ work and are a framework designed to change how film and TV productions approach mental health and wellbeing, providing clear, practical guidance to help productions create psychologically safe environments.
“We are grateful for their contribution to bringing the principles to this point,” the FTVC spokesperson said.
“Both are supporting a structured handover, and we are reviewing the programme’s future operating model as it moves into its next phase.
“We remain fully committed to the principles and to supporting the screen sector to create mentally healthier working environments.”
Mishcon joined FTVC in 2022 in the newly-created role of development executive to look after its mental health resource The Whole Picture Toolkit, subsequently being upped to head of programme delivery – Mentally Healthy Productions in 2024 and ultimately being named head of industry engagement last year.
Prior to her time at FTVC, Mishcon’s served three years as senior head of production at BBC News, followed by a four-month stint as interim director of development at the news organisation. She also briefly worked at Raw TV as production executive before joining FTVC.
“As I leave the charity, I’ll be taking some time over the summer to reflect before deciding what comes next,” she continued.
“I’m genuinely excited about what lies ahead and the opportunity to build on the insights and experience gained over the past four years. What I know for certain is that my belief in this work remains undiminished.”
Glynne joined the FTVC in 2021 as director for The Whole Picture programme before joining Mishcon as co-lead of Mentally Healthy Productions in 2022, as well as serving as head of programme development and latterly as head of mental health strategy.
Glynne is also chief executive of documentary and animation outfit Mosaic Films. Prior to joining FTVC, he spent five years as chair of European Documentary Network and 15 years as founder and chief exec of The Documentary Filmmakers Group.
He wrote on LinkedIn: “Whilst I am leaving the charity, I am certainly not leaving the conversation. I’ll continue working at the intersection of mental health, behaviour change, leadership, organisational culture and the creative industries, and I’m excited by some of the projects and collaborations already beginning to emerge. So this is less a goodbye and more a ‘watch this space’.”
