Screen can exclusively reveal the first trailer for Czech director Mira Fornay’s new feature Cook F** Kill ahead of its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in its Rebels With A Cause competition.

The absurd drama explores political and social issues related to domestic abuse through the tale of an outwardly good-natured man who is a conniving and violent tormentor behind the closed doors of his family home.

Pathologically jealous of his wife and petrified that she is plotting to leave him, taking their three children with her, the protagonist unleashes a deceitful, terrifying campaign to make her stay put that ends in tragedy.

The production boasts an ensemble cast led by award-winning Czech actor Jaroslav Plesl, Petra Fornayová and Regina Rázlová and also including Irena Bendová, Jan Alexander, Bobo Zárychta, Jazmína Ciganeková and Roman Lipka.

It is Fornay’s third feature after 2009 film Foxes, which premiered in Venice Critics’ Week, My Dog Killer, which won the top Tiger award in Rotterdam in 2013.

It is produced by Viktor Schwarcz at Prague-based production house Cineart with the support of co-producers Ceska televise, Fornay’s Mirafox, state-Slovakian broadcaster RTVS and Synergia Film.

Sébastien Chesneau and Karina Korenblum at Dubai-based company Cercamon are handling international sales.
